But really what's happening around this time period in the company is we are seeing a Attitude era ending we're moving on to a new era of superstars. So Shawn Michael's actually recently returned from being out from his back for quite a while he was out, and you're starting to see this new group of superstars past the Attitude air. But of course some Attitude air are still in there. But would you agree with that, Bill, as we see the John Cenas and the Yes, the Attitude error stars are there, So there's always gonna be that a little bit of Attitude era never really goes away. But this I believe he's correct me if I'm run this is Boston, yes, and Boston's red hot at this time, and so these this is just listen, You're you're in the back waiting for your number to be called, and every time somebody's music hits, you realize you're getting closer to your entrance, and you're just you're just a bundle of out fire. It's obviously not always ninety seconds right right, And that's the thing, like you think you got, you know, a minute and a half, three minutes, five minutes something to warm up, and all of a sudden you hear your music. You better be there. It's all about timing too. It's crazy, it's all time. How many people usually produce this match. There's there used to be. I would say there was about three producers in this match, and then naturally all your top talent and you know, your your final guys and stuff would have input and things like that. Everybody, I will say this, everybody had teams put Yeah, but back then it was Pat Patterson, Michael Hayes, Shane McManus in the back on this. I'm trying to remember if that was a Jamie Noble early on Jamie Noble, Yeah, I could remember exactly when he was basically too injured thee well, Jamie. Jamie was actually my writing party during this. That's how I remember that because at the end, so we're talking about it more, when I can, you know, I wound up in the hospital the whole life. Who imagine would have been just a slip there. Yeah, but you see what they're doing here. The Winsky is yet to be in the ring, right, But you let the stories be cold, right, Okay, now we do this. You've got a million of things to get in on this match. Stories now happens for the reason. I'm glad he's killed up from a couple of years before this when you landed on him. But yeah, but what I was saying, everything happens for a reason in this match, every elimination, who's doing it to who? Everything just came together for this match through the second rope. Bill he went through the second rope, and so with all the action that's happening, we forget that he's out there, right, You forget that he's out there. How hard is it to like get a rest in these things and not look like you're just back Then? I think it was easier because it was all storyline driven. Now I think it's you know, it's a it's a lot of everybody standing in there punching and kicking and everybody doing the same thing. And how did you take Bill, I don't know. I don't even know if I took one. Look like two to me, they're saying I had one foot one foot. You got both the referees right there from either brand by the way up and back down, big brands foot here, you're right, and everything here, And as you watch it, I don't want to see it in a negative way. Everything in these matches is landing and hitting and meaningful. And the physicality is there where sometimes when there's so many people you're just trying to do things to stay busy. This is this is the this is the greatest part, and the art is telling these stories all the way through. The physicality is good, and you're giving the people in every entrance. You're giving the people what they want to see or what they expect to see. Right, Christian at last, that it's the hair, the smile and the hair bounces, that's the heat right there. He could have done a little bit more ultimately in the end, but he still had a hell of a career. When he came back the second time, I really was hoping they were gonna do something, especially with him as because he's just he's a special kind of talent. I had a lot to offer. Guy. I still think he does have a lot to offer. There were some extraordinary, extraordinary guys. Yeah, in this group. Can't always had his moments, and these didn't. He neat woman showing off his strength, and they always had a good job of highlighting can in these matches. And that was the thing too. It's like everybody understood. We have to while you could go into business for yourself for that however long you're in there, but no, you spotlights highlighted those guys, and that he is in the ring. Everybody can say, oh, they talked about it forever. No, it's happening in the ring. Ye now, Yeah, Booker five times he w champions five times, five time. And then you get hip to the fact that the longer it takes you to get there. The longer your stats in the world like that. There's a lot of people in there. And and just to point out, there's no w c W guys. Booker T's out. There's no guys at all in here. Nope, nope, get e c W. Booker T was there in there later on because naturally, as you watch the progression of his career, it was definitely, Oh, how scary is it? Sorry to cut you off like you're gonna run at the ropes like that and they're gonna pull it down. You gotta just flop over with your leg. Yeah, you're hoping you just that's gotta be true. You take it on the move. I remember the guys as a recap, Bill broke his arm earlier in the match. Yeah, I guess it's not easy just going on the top ropes. Huh No, it's just one of those things you can slip and go the wrong way. And I got both ropes tied in and it literally young men, which felt like an eternity. But it was three seconds and it's not my we have here, Bill rock. I saw a lot of guys have matches that earlier in the night too. Obviously that's changed over time too, hasn't it quite a bit. Very rarely do you see a guy in the who's working before or after, especially in a huge role in the rumble. Yeah, pleasure chief Mannnesota got Shelton, Benjamin in there with him too, the ob w y should have Benjamin Batista, Sina Leser, Lesner. They got Matt Hardy in there, man, Matt's Matt Scott. Oh he's gonna take how's it going out like this? And F five? Yeah? That thank thank goodness for Charlie and Shelton. That's the way you're gonna do it. That's the way to do yeah, because if not, you're just hitting right on that mat h w A. Charlie was just eliminated. Rosie uh big, he's still there. You're perfectly on him though there it is six you would you would be careful mathon all for the manavment, russell An, what don't we got Many people are on their feet now, we are because they know they're getting into the thick weeds here. Yep, uh, yes, the American badass doesn't does it come back? I'm trying to remember if he had been out or he's or he comes back as the Undertaker after this? After this, Yeah, that was the return of competition. Man. How cool was that with him and driver that motorcycle. I think it was good for him to get away from that undertaker h full gimmick character for a few years. I think it was the great evolution of him to come back to it. Yeah, I think I think he did it good. Yeah, I think so. I like this version. Yeah, he's come back here and he's really got more of a incorporated an M M A style presentation and his physicality is stepped up and everything, but very stoic as the Undertaker. Right, it was very but around this time he's definitely transformed into this. His punch is just there's no better punch looking punch. Did you agree with that? Yeah? Oh, he thought he did it again? Did he do that year before he got kicking and eliminated him? Maybe thought I did it again, but he didn't. Oh chup saying him to the mat. Yeah it's yeah, last year yet, Oh that math's not that. Uh no, that was that was ruggs. That wasn't mats. That was a rug. Is the thumb is insane And it was a rug because you were running, so you need attractions. If they were we've been slipping all over the place. And so that happened. To remember that, Yeah, there would be only one man left inside. Now we're clearing out the ring here though, boll Now we're now we're eliminating. Yes, a train had some good moments here. Man, what in this backer realized that what you gonna do here? Trying to change look at that set up? Oh yeah, the tag team I forgot about that. Yeah, man, can's tag team with everybody? Man he's got he swerves of right, he tells what he's gonna jump him off his and he throws him over the road. That's when we had a lemonager. Teammates almost realize how big the Pieta is when he goes up there, can't can really move. No, there was no more of a I'm in in my time in the business because how was a decent size athlete and then you got in the ring with these guys, you go cheesus. Look at the size of some of the them. Look at the size of these four guys in here. This is right here. There's a lot of meeting here. We've had every entrance right yep. We got Batista, Undertaker, Kane and Leslie. Wow, you're right there they go highlighting the brand splip, but then highlighting the up and comer. Both OBW guys in there against w W F Patrick, Yep, that's awesome. We got Yeah, we got too old. We got two Attitude Air guys, and we got to old school movie right here. Yep, you like, says Pinebuster. Yeah, he's your favorite Spinebuster for sure. Every when he came in and wrestling and I know that I did with that. That was so awesome, guys wonder and we had to you know, the whole thing of watching this back right, And I tell you this all the time, after every episode, it makes me think back these things and and look at the side people in this game. Unheard of at this time. You were taking F five. Uh No, I've never taken that five, I don't say so. You look at these guys. I'm looking at all four of these guys. And when when Bob came in and the piece came in and Randy went in came were on the road with us for six months in the time. Yeah, so we we all had time phrase with these guys and to watch them grow and develop and work with them and just's just amazing to be part of that. Man, that means to me. That's that's that's what means the most well, Sina and Lesnard Batista, they're all just not a couple of years in a total man. Yeah, it's crazy to take about. That's a testament to their skill set. I mean, the development and understanding, the investment that was made in them, how they work to pay it back there exactly. Yeah, there was a ton of investment in these acts and and they they paid it back penfuls. I believe your thoughts on taking the tombstone scary. I've taken it a few times, uh live events. I've taken it at least once or twice on TV under They'll scare there, guys Aatista. It's not natural to be upside down at my size, you know what I mean. It's yeah, you go Jesus Christmas. Your life's in his hands. Look at this construction. Hold on tight and He'll take care of you. Yeah, that's the Yeah, I like how big these guys are. Many Latista's come back in for some more anish h. There you go. So let's forget about everything else we talk about. Forget about everything we talk about, watching all thirty men and doing this this whole time we've been live and talking about how great this event was. Do you realize that we've just seen the Undertaker two years in a row, the year before and brock Lester now, and I'll stand by this. Did he have to do it? He paid? Here's how you get these guys over And I just want to point that out. For the second year in a row, we've seen the Undertaker eliminated the world. Yeah, he holds the biggest streak in WrestleMania history. Should have never ended that streak. The guy's just business through and through. What's good for business. Yeah, this could be another explosion. I think that's why. But next time you got we're in Paul Lesnar made now dude champion again. Get me my opportunity pleasure literally just just to me. And again I don't even know at the time if I appreciated as much as I did right now just watching it in the forget about that means that way forget about the fans and people at Bends and watching on on pay per view. What that meant run in the back, was that submitted who Taker is and what we knew. We knew brock Brock was gonna be. And you know a lot of the guys Batista and and three Minute Warning and you know, all these guys, we knew who they were gonna be and what they were being groomed for. But that's some miss you undertake his legacy and and influence on this business in front of the cameras and behind the scenes. You said, he doesn't you know, he didn't have to do it, but it's really a critical part of how it works. Though. You don't do that for people, then you're gonna run out of people eventually, if that makes sense what I'm saying. Yeah, and if you don't do that for someone, you start to become less relevant as well. I think, yeah, can only listen, You can only do so much before people go, yeah, yeah, we get it. But that goes back to Taker reinventing himself at you know, the the the emergency of the different versions of the Dead Man with the Tager and and things like that. But just to just to sit here now at the ripe old age of fifty eight watch it again and go, this is why I I love this, this, this is why I did. This is what made me a fan to begin with. And so that was really cool to watch Man, you one and only Well a rumble appearance. Man, Yeah, so so quick story about it. So I snapped my forearm. This was just about the beginning of Apish and I's storyline where we were going at it all the time. We were on TV every week, We're on a live events, you know, we were really starting to tear it up and they were building towards something. Well, when I snapped my forearm, one of the agents said, well, that's the year earth we lost that story and what are you talking about? Why is that the quick decision? Because someone may may or may not be injured. So we went to the hospital. We were at the hospital for I forget how many hours. Finally I had enough of waiting for the X rays and all this stuff, and we drove so the nearest town and again. And back then it was Saturday nights were the pay per views, or Sundays Sunday, And so you're driving from Boston in the middle of night into where we were going next. There's nothing in between, so we had to by the hospital so you get it rolled the next night in Podunk and they'd be it raw on time. So when I got to Row super early, saw the trainer swollen and you saw where it was where it was mangled, and so they put the cast on right then and there, and that's where I worked with the cast. I was not going to be taken out of the storyline for something I knew I could work around. The beauty part was it was my left hand, so my my striking hand was still good, and now I had a weapon for the big man. So but that was a quick thing, like the instant thing back then your earth. Let's move on because listen, I wasn't a main character. He she at the time wasn't a main character, so far storyline didn't go. The show wouldn't have suffered at all. But I told I'm in and let's let's just keep going, and so we kept going to people about behind it and it worked out. But it was so scary time because I thought, don't let me lose this momentum. I'm coming back. But yeahs turns out there was short lived with Kishi anyway, and then things happened, but it was a lot of fun. Like that was one of the cool things for me, was having a Royal Rumble moment, even if Itlla was getting hit in the face with a stick and the the trash can that they kind of got away from quick. When Tommy first in then and I reached through it, he hit me with the little trafshcan. That probably hurt more than the dam kendowsticks. Yeah, I bet, But by the time you're getting hit with so many you just get punch drunk. And and like I said, my hands were never up and Edge caught me right the side of the face and the neck and that was it. It's again watching this back with you, it's amazing how much has to go into this, the timing yet progress, all the storylines. There's a lot going on, ye like restI mental storyboards of the producers like you, just though people don't think. We walked in and they had a book and there was, you know, a drawing sketch. Ones gets to know they had a mental vision. Take the talent. Can the talent see that vision? What does the talent field works best? Go out there and make some soup and really cool. The process was really that's the stuff that fascinated me. Is a talent. I was more caught up in how things work. Well, man, this is a really cool episode. We hadn't really done something like this yet. Yeah, that was heat and right on time for Rumble coming up. And I forgot to tell you I was on Busted Open this morning because I you know, we didn't talk a lot about we watched the Rumble, but quickly I watched The Hook and Samoa Joe and so I was running around for the Foundation. We're picking up stuff for the Silent Option while I was on like a waiting line. So I just happened to send a tweet about Hook in Samoa Joe, and so they told me, said, hey, would you go on live? So we went on live and Loan be old because you're in the middle of popping by wrestling. What's the one thing I did not do? Plug BD. I did not plug BDE And next time I do that, I'm gonna have to plug the BDE. But I'm so busy. We have our annual dinner bank next week. It's annual dinner banquet for the Foundation, and that is taking up so much time, and I'm going on a corporate tour speaking tour, so there's so much going on that, you know, wrestling gets me out of my daily thing. But that was the first thing I thought of after I got up there. I'm like, I forgive you, Bill, but we'll go ahead and plug it while we're here wrapping things up. So yeah, we're live every Thursday at nine pm Eastern unless something big comes up, then we might have a guest on if Bill's out or you know whatever, We'll make it work. It's fun.
