[00:01:31] Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Boys Watching Buffy. We're just two boys watching every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time, giving our thoughts, our review, our reactions.

[00:01:51] Where your hosts? I'm Joe Welky. I'm Vance.

[00:01:54] And today we're talking about season four, episode 10 titled Hush. Written and directed by Joss Wheaton, original air date, December 14th, 1999 to announce a 5.97 million people.

[00:02:09] And got to get this off the chest first here everybody. I was experiencing, I was one of the victims of the Southwest holiday travel, debacles and boy-o-boyhood to fuck everything up in my life.

[00:02:25] I was supposed to be back in LA December 28th. Backflake I canceled the earliest I could get back to LA was January 1st and I had plans to go to Las Vegas for New Years.

[00:02:40] So I got my flight rerouted to Las Vegas on December 31st, was able to do the Las Vegas shit.

[00:02:48] And on the drive back me and Vance had planned to record once I got back on the second drive back initially started.

[00:02:59] I left at 11 a.m. and when I left Las Vegas it said, hey this is a five and a half hour drive. I'm like cool, that's in the ballpark of what we usually expect here.

[00:03:11] Google Maps decided to do this fuckery where you know how they always are like if they update something it's like, hey we found a faster route. You want to take the faster route?

[00:03:21] I decided I saw that and we're like yeah let's do the faster route. It was going to save a half hour of time.

[00:03:28] Google Maps took me on an off road dirt road that eventually it told me to take a left at a certain turn and there was no left to be taken.

[00:03:38] It's just like you'd be driving in the shrubbery of the desert of Nevada. And then it was like, okay well we will reroute you to this other dirt road.

[00:03:47] Get to that dirt road. There's like five tires just they're blocking it.

[00:03:53] And so this was like a half hour off of the highway. So then we had to drive a half hour back to get on the highway and once we got to the highway it was fucking so impossible to get back on the highway because so many people made the same Google Maps mistake as me.

[00:04:12] And by the time we got back on the highway it was like, okay ETA is now six o'clock.

[00:04:19] And that was the time that me advanced at a originally planned to record this podcast because of the Southwest fuckery.

[00:04:27] And just the entire drive from Nevada to Los Angeles was just traffic. The ETA kept going up and up and up and up.

[00:04:38] And at that point I just texted advance. I was like, Vance, I don't think it's happened.

[00:04:43] I didn't get back to LA until like 8.45 11 a.m. to 8.45 p.m. I was like, dude there's no way that I'm going to be doing this podcast.

[00:04:56] It would be the worst podcast we would ever record. We will just need to delay it. So that is what happened everybody.

[00:05:04] Blame fucking Southwest for all this. I'd take it all the way back to Southwest because these motherfuckers fucked me so hard and I better be getting a goddamn reimbursement.

[00:05:13] This is Joe talking by the way. We get some comments like nobody can tell who's talking.

[00:05:19] This is Joe. I just gave a whole fucking spiel about this my trip and boy oh boy what a time to be alive.

[00:05:30] How was your new years though? New years was great. Everything once I was in Las Vegas was awesome.

[00:05:35] Okay, but getting to there from there was just a goddamn travesty and I don't ever want to go anywhere for holidays ever again.

[00:05:46] I want to fucking stay in my house and just sit and go get a little popper at midnight. There we go. Happy new year everybody.

[00:05:57] Yeah, yeah. We went to the Roots concert at the Walt Disney concert hall. I'll leave the little one. It was great.

[00:06:06] I hadn't seen the Roots live and they put on a hell of a show. Yeah, they're very live dude. Everybody gets a solo. It's amazing.

[00:06:15] It's not every day you get to watch an Academy Award winner on the drums. Yeah, I want to say thought dude black thought is fucking incredible.

[00:06:25] Oh amazing yeah it's such a good rapper. Yeah and then guitarists just killed it. It was great. It was amazing.

[00:06:32] Highly recommend checking out the Walt Disney concert hall. Yeah and I want to say happy new year to listeners.

[00:09:24] So yeah hush everybody this episode opens up with Professor Walsh talking about how important communication is and communication is the key to everything and you gotta be communicative.

[00:09:39] And she calls Buffy to this to the front of the room to do like a demonstration about communication or something and she's like all right for your demonstration I want you to lie on my desk.

[00:09:52] And then she's like Riley you're a part of this demonstration to and TA Riley walks over and he's just like over top of Buffy.

[00:10:01] And I was like what the fuck kind of communication demonstrations and I was at this point location I was like this is a dream because of course I was like the 90s were weird but they weren't this yeah I was watching this I was like I was a communication and social psychology major I don't remember this happened.

[00:10:21] And now Riley and Buffy are going to perform sex for us all and everyone get your notepad so yeah.

[00:10:31] But Riley goes in and he's just like on top of Buffy and Buffy's like this is so scandalous and Riley's like don't worry and he says if I kiss you the sun goes down and I was

[00:10:46] like what kind of cryptic bullshit is this he says if I kiss you it'll make the sun go down and I have to say he is continued from the last episode where he said you'll teach me like so he ended last

[00:11:01] episode with a creepy line and then he starts this one with a weirder line right. Riley is so weird they just made this character the weirdest character I don't even understand after watching that

[00:11:14] episode with that line meant yeah me neither but yeah then they kiss and you know when they first kiss every it's daytime and there's a bunch of students watching them and then they kiss

[00:11:26] and then it's dark out and everybody in the classroom disappeared and and Buffy's like this is cool isn't it I don't know exactly when this happens but she says the line fortune favors the brave yeah

[00:11:42] and I couldn't help but think of that Matt Damon crypto Super Bowl commercial. Yeah and how is he being sued now.

[00:11:51] I couldn't help but think about that but yeah um but then she starts to hear some stuff going on in the hallway and she's like what's going on out there this is weird some weird should happen

[00:12:03] and she goes out in the hallway and there's a little girl chanting creepy stuff and she's looking all creepy and uh there's a Buffy wakes up

[00:12:13] and it was obviously a dream and she's wake it wakes up and she's back in regular world in class and you know there's some

[00:12:21] banter between her and Willow about like oh you're snoring Boone. I gotta say Willow okay so Buffy falls asleep in class

[00:12:30] and then Willow is like oh she get we learned everything we need it for the test oh I hope no one missed that

[00:12:36] and I'm like bitch don't you know Buffy patrols at night like stop trolling her for not being a

[00:12:44] lurch in class which she's saving lives at night yeah the fact that she's in a week at all

[00:12:50] yeah like Buffy should just look at Willow like dude you know what I do like I get that she's

[00:12:57] trolling it's like lighthearted or whatever willow is just gonna give her the notes and help her cheat or whatever

[00:13:02] but Willow still seems pretty grudging to just like straight up cheat for Buffy yeah well I'm like come on

[00:13:09] let's go to the one Buffy cheat off of me all the fucking yeah um but uh yeah Buffy is like yeah

[00:13:16] I just had a really creepy dream and then they start to walk outside and Riley is just like

[00:13:22] creepily waiting outside the door for both of them and like as soon as they pass the exit he just

[00:13:28] like jumps out and he's like hey how's it going oh you guys up too it's like the dude yeah

[00:13:35] oh um so then Willow sees this happening and she's like oh well I uh I have a wicka group to go

[00:13:41] to I'm gonna actually gonna go to this wicka group you two uh don't uh get in any tremor whatever

[00:13:48] so she walks away and then Riley and Buffy are talking and Willow does not go to the wicka group

[00:13:53] she starts spying on fucking Buffy and Riley in the most 90s bullshit like

[00:13:59] it just has a folder in front of her face just standing in like a window outcropping and just

[00:14:04] like holding a book in front of her face yeah and I'm like okay cool do you even have to do that

[00:14:11] yeah and like it's also like her spying goes for such a short amount of time too like

[00:14:18] because after that little scene it's just like over yeah and Buffy and Riley go outside

[00:14:24] and they're talking about you know oh we got a we got the final or whatever and then they almost

[00:14:32] kiss at a certain point and they don't because they become stuttering nervous messes around

[00:14:38] what happens is Buffy says oh he said what are you doing tonight she's like patrolling

[00:14:43] he's like what and she's like petroleum which is yeah terrible and then she asks him what he's

[00:14:49] doing tonight and he's like grading papers and then right when they're about to kiss Buffy's like wait

[00:14:55] grading papers but we already took the midterm like yeah what papers do you have to grade and Riley's

[00:15:01] like oh do the other laypers lay ones and it's like stuffy that this is the time you become master

[00:15:08] detective right like your Benoit block right here like just get the kiss Benoit block one advances

[00:15:17] favorite movies of 2022 yeah that's that's why you make the list I still haven't seen it looks pretty

[00:15:23] fun I just haven't seen a lot of things yeah I saw it to your RRR but yeah so then Buffy's like

[00:15:32] got our eyebrow race a little bit like that's a little suspicious Riley might be lying to me

[00:15:39] because Riley also is a terrible liar as soon as she's like what about what's up with this paper

[00:15:43] girl and he's like they all made lies that they didn't need to make well it's like Buffy

[00:15:52] makes a stupid lie about the petroleum thing but at least she's confident when she says it true

[00:15:56] it is a confident of I'm doing a test of petroleum yeah and Riley's just like buying anything

[00:16:03] so yeah he's like oh yeah you were joking about being married fine got it cool yeah at this point

[00:16:09] would you still be interested in Buffy knowing how fucking crazy she is oh I don't think hotness

[00:16:14] blind people to certain things I don't know fair yeah so after this Buffy decides to call

[00:16:22] Giles about her crazy dream because she's a little worried about it she had the the chanting thing

[00:16:29] and there was a creepy guy's face in there and it had something to do with you know this bald guy

[00:16:36] and they're called the gentlemen because the chanting girls mentioned something about like the

[00:16:40] gentleman needs seven and Buffy calls Giles and he's like how do you know that it's not

[00:16:46] just a dream or is this like one of your prophetic dreams because you have that vision type of thing

[00:16:51] that we haven't mentioned in quite sometimes so I need to remind everyone you sometimes can see

[00:16:56] the future so he's like all right I'll do some research and we'll figure it out and this is where

[00:17:03] a camera like kind of pans out and it reveals that like spike is now living with Giles they're like

[00:17:10] rubies I love this so much yes just the two British guys odd couple situation yeah

[00:17:17] uh and he's not chained up or dealt he just like free Roman yeah he's just chilling walking around

[00:17:24] why is he living there I don't know like they growling in any other hole and come back

[00:17:31] I mean they got the info that they needed from that's why they were keeping him alive or whatever

[00:17:35] and and because he had the information about the the initiative people yeah like but he can like

[00:17:43] stay anywhere he he can just walk and go and stay in like one of its eight different houses he probably

[00:17:48] has yeah but now he's living with Giles and Giles is like fed up with him already it's like we came out

[00:17:56] well he could see keeps eating his uh biscuits or his crackers or something yeah which is a

[00:18:04] interest spike likes his food man spikes yeah well I mean we get an explanation and I think we

[00:18:09] asked this question a couple podcasts ago but Giles is like why are you even eating this like you

[00:18:14] just drink blood can you even enjoy food and spikes like I mean I can I do like the texture of

[00:18:20] the biscuits mixed in with the blood Giles is like fuck I'll never be able to eat again

[00:18:25] that is I would love to see a spike cooking show of just like him like how do I make

[00:18:31] are you born with just drinking blood out of people it's like you add a dash of

[00:18:36] paprika a little a little cinnamon like he becomes like an underground network vampire celebrity chef

[00:18:44] yeah blood sausage it's the way to go um so then uh zander and

[00:18:53] anya start walking over to Giles's house and they're they're showing up and they're having

[00:18:58] an argument because onya feels like zander doesn't even care about her and what even is this

[00:19:04] relationship do you even care about me all you want to do is have sex and zander's like look I care

[00:19:11] about you if you don't think that I don't care about you you must be a crazy lady and she's like well

[00:19:15] that's not helping and they show up and they're still fighting in Giles's house and and both Giles

[00:19:24] and spike are like I don't want to fucking hear any of that well she talks about all you care

[00:19:30] about is orgasms yeah that gets everyone to just look and the way spike comes off the couch and

[00:19:36] looks at it's just like delightful glee yeah yeah i like Giles says something like I don't want to

[00:19:42] hear anything about this you two are like whatever and spike is like actually I would like to hear

[00:19:46] some about yeah she goes on about like um this zander says hey I've told you about conversations

[00:19:53] like private conversations not conversations that's a talk about in front of my friends and spikes

[00:19:57] like oh we're not friends so keep going yeah this is entertaining for me and then uh

[00:20:04] then Giles brings up that he uh he wants zander to take spike for the weekend because he's got

[00:20:09] a friend coming over yeah and then I think ony is like is this an orgasm friend and Giles was like

[00:20:16] will use like this is the worst he's like the worst way you could have put this

[00:20:23] yeah it's so good yeah i do love the job is like hey can you take the kid off my hands I got a

[00:20:28] fuck and then they're arguing about like how spike doesn't want to be with them while they're banging

[00:20:35] while i ends they're banging and i just in the background arguing about uh oh my god so

[00:20:41] you're canceling on date tonight because of this and he's like I don't even want to take spike

[00:20:45] yeah yeah it's a good good scene like this whole dynamic of all of these characters interacting is

[00:20:51] so yeah why don't he just stay in angel's old apartment yeah i don't know or that place

[00:20:57] in the angel state that castle has to be empty right i guess they just want to keep an eye on spike

[00:21:02] because i mean it's entertaining for the show but i have no idea like it doesn't make any sense as

[00:21:09] to why he would be like this why he would want that too yeah i think it's about to go get tied up

[00:21:17] and yeah yeah what's keeping him there like it doesn't have we've never seen zander's mom right

[00:21:25] or any of his parents yeah no just funny to think of her finding spike tied up in a basement while

[00:21:32] zander sleeping like what are you into zander yeah so then uh we have willow at the wick of group

[00:21:43] and she is just silently judging all of them because it doesn't even really seem too much like a

[00:21:48] wick of group uh they're all going around talking about like i don't know like empowerment stuff

[00:21:53] and feminism stuff and like lightly touching upon like energy crystals and shit and willow's like um

[00:22:02] what is up with all this are we ever gonna talk about real spells and they're like idiot

[00:22:07] that shit's not real there's like a negative connotation to witchcraft like it's kind of like the

[00:22:13] crystal uh horoscope astrology level of you know yeah which i was kind of relieved because i was

[00:22:22] like man i don't think there should be this many witches like yeah there should be this many uh

[00:22:28] amies and willows well i know that one of my predictions was like there was gonna be a wick of group

[00:22:33] and they're gonna like take thing but if this is the wick of group yeah there they go with that one

[00:22:40] yeah that one turns out doesn't seem to be so wait for the watchers to show up yeah um but in this

[00:22:48] wick of group there is one girl like once willow starts mentioning like hey are we gonna ever

[00:22:53] talk about like actual which shit because that's what i'm here for there is one girl i forget her name

[00:23:00] Tara Tara okay uh Tara kind of looks up at willow and she's like peaked interest she's like

[00:23:07] huh maybe this girl kind of knows what the fuck's going on here and like none of these other

[00:23:12] quote unquote which is really no and maybe willow knows that witchcraft is real i'm gonna take an

[00:23:20] interest in this girl yeah Tara's uh interesting from yeah yeah so after the wick of group meeting

[00:23:30] adjourns willow goes and she tells buffy about disappointment about is she like yeah these girls

[00:23:36] I don't know what the fuck they're talking about they're just a bunch of you know bullshit not real

[00:23:40] witches and buffy's like oh that's a shame but he's like phew less less weird spells that we have

[00:23:47] to deal with right mistaken spells that go awry yeah everyone in the town is somehow affected by

[00:23:54] do we just have a bad witchcraft thing yeah so then buffy starts rambling to willow about how you

[00:24:03] know every time i'm around riley i get nervous and i become a babbling mess and yeah i feel

[00:24:10] bad because i'm always lying to riley i feel terrible about this and i wish that i could tell

[00:24:15] riley about being a slayer but i know that i can't and i was like why can't you yeah everybody

[00:24:23] else seems to know your slayer yeah like grand more people and i mean the rest of sunny day all high

[00:24:30] knows that you definitely will it's up a building in front of every one dude did no one from sunny day

[00:24:39] all high go to sunny day all you right i mean granite willows there but and odds went there but

[00:24:47] other than like people outside of that group yeah i really think that would be there now Jonathan

[00:24:54] i mean we don't know Jonathan smart smart yeah i don't know i think that Jonathan survives

[00:25:00] i thought he survived i mean we just saw him tackle we saw him tackle a guy that's not it comes in

[00:25:05] later yeah we saw him tackle a guy yeah i think that he does come back back i hope so

[00:25:13] um it'd be nice to just randomly have him on campus just that random campus guys always fun

[00:25:20] but uh yeah buffy is sad that she can't tell riley about it and then it cuts to riley talking

[00:25:26] i think his name was forest is that the guy's name yeah he's talking to forest about like man

[00:25:31] i wish i could tell buffy about you know being part of the initiative but you know how it is

[00:25:37] and forest is like i will yeah i know you fucking been talking about buffy and herbie and special

[00:25:43] a bajillion times i'm sick of hearing about it yeah i just like we got a job that would get us so

[00:25:47] many girls but we can't tell them about it you know right so that's the that's the cross we bear

[00:25:53] you come almost and i just love the forest whole thing is like i'm trying to get pussy

[00:26:03] like does it care about fighting that i can't get pussy because of this

[00:26:08] and are they in school or are they military age like what are they yeah i want to know how

[00:26:15] old riley actually like how long has riley been in this group i guess we might find out

[00:26:19] it's too and enough but like yeah uh also i don't know what riley's like oh man it's just so

[00:26:25] hard i want to tell our men this group was like why because you accidentally said you had to

[00:26:29] grab great papers once like yeah my god like have you ever gone undercover at all like it's not

[00:26:37] yeah and if you've been he's like an elite level person in the initiative like

[00:26:41] is this the first time that he's ever you're pretending to be a ta working with the teacher who

[00:26:47] moonlights as a real teacher yeah and also runs this group like she actually has real courses

[00:26:54] that she teaches why would you add this workload on top of the initiative to you's like why

[00:27:00] this be a person in town it doesn't give you it doesn't seem like being at the school gives them any

[00:27:05] added benefit yeah you know what i mean i can't i don't understand like you could like it made sense

[00:27:12] when jiles with the librarian because all of the people that he was working with were high

[00:27:16] schoolers and that's where he kept all of his books yes like i guess that the initiative thing is

[00:27:20] underneath of the school but they could have a different access point yeah they actually do we find

[00:27:26] out later they have one so i just don't get like they're making them their job so much harder by

[00:27:33] like i'm going to be a professor plus the secret military uh initiative person i need you to be a

[00:27:39] ta in school and hang out with students but not the information about demons from students

[00:27:45] yeah i understand being a sunny day because it was right on the helm off to yeah yeah yeah well also how

[00:27:51] long is the initiative been around it would have taken a few years just to build that facility

[00:27:57] yes so where the fuck have they been this entire well we might find out order jump we might be jumping

[00:28:02] we might be jumping this is kind this is also kind of like that whole thing with marvel movies where

[00:28:06] it's like why don't they just call you Avengers or like where was Captain Marvel during but like

[00:28:11] no this this is weird and valid i feel like yeah a valid enough nitpick my biggest issue is that

[00:28:18] there was a vampire murdering gang on campus for years yeah operating un unknown for the initiative

[00:28:30] which is also on campus they were robbing kids they were killing kids and robbing their rooms of

[00:28:35] saying they were going away and the initiative didn't realize that your vampires and abandoned

[00:28:40] frat house or something whatever man this whole thing is a little weird uh but yeah well we'll get

[00:28:47] to it we'll hopefully we'll get some more information as we go along um so then we go to spike being

[00:28:53] tied up at zander's house and and zander's tying them up and spikes like you know i can't bite you

[00:28:59] right and zander's like i'm not taking any chances here i'm gonna fucking tie you up which i would

[00:29:04] as well yes uh and then spike starts taunting zander about like the fight that he was having with

[00:29:11] anio he's like oh do you even like me zander even care about me and it's like shut up fuck up

[00:29:17] it's it's great i don't think we had too many scenes of zander and uh spike

[00:29:23] so this is fun yeah zander being like i'm delicious

[00:29:28] yeah he's like you would definitely want to eat it i am delicious i feel like spike

[00:29:36] it's like it's such an interesting character yeah yeah i also got to say and this is vane jo talking

[00:29:43] here oh boy there's a scene i don't know if it's later or if we just pass it but where riley is in

[00:29:49] a tank top and he is supposed to be just like elite military guy and he does not have that good

[00:29:56] of a bod all right his bod is very underwhelming this is jo speaking right here this is jo is jo speaking

[00:30:03] i'll take his bod's not that good he's like kind of scrawny uh and it doesn't have like good

[00:30:11] posture even but like he's supposed to be this imposing military guy and then we have this scene with

[00:30:16] zander and spike and fucking zander is looking good dude zander looked ripped in this i will try

[00:30:22] he's been hitting the weights man like zander looks great he's having sex with the poor

[00:30:27] meridian you know how much yeah energy that must take so kudos to zander for you know pump

[00:30:36] in some iron in the off season he's looking good man uh and riley quit pumping it in the wind

[00:30:45] and start pumping it in the gym my friend uh what does that have seen no okay i heard it on regular

[00:30:53] show it's that yeah i like regular show regular shows fantastic i never watched it regularly but i

[00:30:58] did like regular show

[00:31:05] and he's not really finding too much out about him you know he he's getting a little bit of a trail

[00:31:12] but then a livia shows up and she is ready to fuck she comes in and jow's like oh i was just

[00:31:21] doing some research in libby's like are you that enough small talk i'm ready to get

[00:31:25] dicked down dude and i was like this relationship rules this is what we did you know podcast soon

[00:31:31] as you got back to ala because the travel i didn't want to come with a podcast to treat me like

[00:31:39] alivia treated jobs he's like hi what do you want to drink she's like shut up shut up kiss me

[00:31:48] tall drink a water let's go to that bed jenny calendar it was meridian

[00:33:48] unsettling to look at and then they have henchmen that are in street jackets that aren't tied up

[00:34:36] i liked or disliked it but they are always having like their palms clasp and they're like

[00:34:41] jesterings yeah slightly and their their heads are always tilting and the stood it was so good

[00:36:24] and willow wakes up and they try to talk to each other and they can't i thought it was so funny

[00:36:30] that buffy tried to say good morning i don't know why to be i was like i don't know how often

[00:36:36] i said to my roommate good morning every like just straight up good morning it felt like

[00:36:43] i don't know it just felt maybe girls are different yeah girls are like do that kind of stuff

[00:36:47] especially like best friends like that it felt like you would say something else than good morning

[00:37:20] of like or in the dorm and stuff like no one can talk uh zander wakes up and he can't talk and he

[00:37:27] starts blaming spike and spikes like i can't fucking talk either dude like what do you what do you

[00:37:31] want for me and then zander's like something's up something's up i'm gonna call buffy

[00:37:38] i do like that uh spike flips them off with the reverse two fingers out the British yeah the

[00:37:44] the British two fingers yeah which is i think it's supposed to mean like gouge out your eyes or

[00:38:27] that we see earlier in the episode is Riley does a voice scan thing great to reestablish that

[00:38:34] at the beginning of the episode yeah and so they start to go down on the elevator and the thing

[00:38:39] is like vocal code recognition and then Riley goes up to he's like uh because he can't talk

[00:38:46] and it's like uh the the elevator is like oh you must be an enemy you're intruding we're

[00:38:52] going to self-destruct and make uh uh preventative measures and then he like has some breakthrough and

[00:38:58] do this override and all this like not just gas starts going in to kill him and forest and they

[00:39:03] start freaking out which i was like this is pretty cool the stakes are intense there and more

[00:39:09] scott the note that he's just writing dumb shit like hurry up on it in the background yeah

[00:39:15] but they eventually you know get down to the basement they do the override uh and uh they

[00:39:22] get to professor wall shouldn't she's like so�m's up and they're like we know there's a lame joke here

[00:39:31] okay where they get down and she like points to a sign behind them oh then it's like they pan

[00:39:37] over to the sign it says in case of emergency use the staircase yeah and i'm like is there really

[00:39:43] a staircase down here yeah because why would you why would you not always take the stairs well it's

[00:47:29] other like he lost a big business deal because no we can talk i have no idea i would love the backstory

[00:47:37] of this fight and i would love the backstory of two people who i don't know how oh Riley is supposed to

[00:47:43] be maybe 20 something but to see a 20 something plane clothes walking between two of you pushes arms

[00:47:51] out and separate the two of you and then they're like okay we'll stop yeah also like the blocking

[00:47:58] of this fight is so awkward too it's far away because buffy's looking at it but it just is like

[00:48:06] where are they coming from they're just standing in that street why is this car crashed

[00:54:44] and then a dude just floats by jiles's window and it's perfect it's like one of those

[00:54:51] you remember those old youtube videos where it's like trying to get you to focus on like a dot

[00:54:55] and then like a scary thing shows up it's this is it's a great jump scare yeah and it's a jump scare

[00:56:56] finally find one door and it is with their room 118 yeah because if there's any significance to that

[00:57:02] cuz later like buffy and willow live in room 214 which we see on the on the sheen's i was like are

[00:57:08] these numbers meaning anything i don't i don't know what they mean but i just noticed that they skipped

[00:57:13] over doors they picked a specific room yeah so they go to this door they knock on the door and it's

[00:57:19] some random dude and they're knocking on the door and he wakes up and he's like huh it's pretty

[00:57:24] late at night he's like hi what's this and so he opens the door and the gentleman just like

[00:57:31] bust in uh one of the gentlemen grabs the guy the straight jacket dudes yeah the straight

[00:57:37] jackets dudes hold them down and this dude is like freaking out he's trying to scream but obviously

[00:57:44] he can't and the horror of that is so so terrifying and then that's when the horror kicks in

[00:57:52] the horror kicks in it's when you can't scream for help and i'm doing anything yeah and i'm like

[00:57:57] being held down and i was like oh my god now this is scary like people walking around the street

[00:58:02] like not being able to talk to each other that's eerie yeah but this is terrifying so the gentleman

[00:58:10] come into the room as well and they one thing that we forgot to mention too is like

[00:58:15] they you're usually carrying like briefcases to like one of this and they open up their briefcase

[00:58:22] and the one gentleman gives the other gentleman like a scalpel and this scene of just the one

[00:58:31] gentleman with the scalpel with his huge smile and his huge eyes just going down to cut this guy

[00:58:39] first of all i want to say when he's being held down i was like are they gonna cut his dick off

[00:58:44] like it seemed like they they de-panced him didn't it i didn't think that you i feel like you always

[00:58:49] go straight to take stuff i do it it seemed like they were pulling the pants down i did not get them

[00:58:54] on at all they opened his shirt his chest was fully exposed i guess i'm always thinking about my dick

[00:59:54] but it doesn't make sense later when they're chasing someone else that they randomly stumble upon

[00:59:59] yeah but yeah but uh yes so they they take his heart and he you know one of the gentlemen plops

[01:00:13] other gentlemen and like the minions they all up sort of plotting like the head gentleman

[01:00:17] yes they are he's looking like thank you thank you it is amazing it is pretty incredible

[01:00:25] yeah so then it's the next day i guess and there's a crime scene obviously because a dude got his

[01:00:31] heart chopped out of his fucking chest and buffy just casually strolls into this crime scene like

[01:00:37] there's a cop like trying to hold people back and buffy just like back doors it's a doorway

[01:00:42] yeah it's a dorm doorway you can cover both entrance you can cover the entrance

[01:00:49] yeah so uh buffy looks and she's like holy shit this is fucked up dude yeah

[01:01:02] then we go back to Olivia at giles's house and she starts drawing she's a great artist she starts

[01:01:07] drawing the image I know this episode and uh an angel have drawings in it yeah yeah

[01:01:17] but she draws the gentleman perfectly and she shows its giles and he's like huh are you

[01:01:22] watching yeah are you you have watch a bloody if you're not they should definitely hire you

[01:05:54] yeah i think my heart and then they cut to onion she's just eating popcorn like not even worried

[01:06:00] yeah um but yeah jiles is like they steal the voices and then they they take your heart

[01:06:05] and then this is when buffy goes oh i think it's zander as i wonder as anders how do we kill them

[01:06:12] and then buffy gestures that she's gonna stake them

[01:06:16] and somehow jiles and zander this can they look at this is hard giving a hand job

[01:06:23] well she does do like kind of like the jerk off motion because she does the stabbing like in her lap

[01:06:29] yeah and jiles and zander look like what and buffy's like fucking you know what i'm doing i know it's

[01:06:35] like it's funny because jiles looked at zander when he did the boobies thing like you childish idiot

[01:06:41] but then with buffy does that jiles and zander like buffy please

[01:06:46] so it's like last we remember the last time they gave somebody a happy and then she takes out the

[01:07:04] fairy tale that the gentleman do appear a prince got his voice somehow and screamed and the scream

[01:07:13] killed all of them and then willow is like how about this i've got a cd what if we just play

[01:07:19] music will that do it and jiles like no it's only a real human voice can kill these dudes

[01:07:26] and um then buffy asked how do we get our voices back and then jiles like this is the best part

[01:07:32] i have no idea yeah but guess what you're going on patrol because we've got patrol duty

[01:09:05] yeah but riley's on patrol buffy's out on patrol um riley is like wandering around and he sees the

[01:09:13] clock tower where the gentlemen are and he sees a bunch of shadows moving and he's like that's

[01:09:18] fucking weird i'm gonna go in there by myself and not with my team yeah so we then cut to tera

[01:09:34] she somehow gets willows dorm number or uh it's her dorm number right yeah yeah she's got like

[01:09:40] i'm sure the exchange information and it's like yeah but it's a close up on the number of

[01:09:46] and it's like the number of the door in willows name so we know that she's going to willows from

[01:09:51] yes and it's just like the second time we got a room number in this episode

[01:09:56] so she's we know walking around and she's like all right i'm gonna go see this girl willow

[01:09:59] because i think that she might know what's going on or might know how to help

[01:10:03] cuz she seemed to be the only actual witch in the wicka group yeah we're bad as witches we can solve

[01:10:08] every problem we don't need slayers yeah um but she does the typical fucking horror movie fall

[01:10:15] for no reason like it's not like anybody's even chasing her at this point she just trips and falls

[01:10:19] does she fall to drop it is his random like it's just a setup yeah i think but yeah

[01:10:24] so she trips and falls and as she's picking up all of her shit like in the background you see the

[01:10:29] gentleman float by and they float by like they're floating pretty fast like what we saw before

[01:10:35] like they're floating at like a slow walking pace but this is like they have segways now and they're

[01:10:41] just floating pretty fast and they spot Tara and she's like oh shit what the fucker the

[01:10:48] the she starts run and dude yeah come before um so then we cut to buffy and buffy sees the gentleman

[01:10:55] and she gets caught by one of their like henchmen and she you know she starts fighting the people but

[01:11:00] you know they catch her eventually um the wicka girl is right uh Tara is running around and she's

[01:11:07] banging on all the doors and uh nobody answers them and i don't know why i know exactly why

[01:11:14] because oh one was busy in their room there fair fair enough there's the fair enough it's a heart

[01:11:19] stealer you're like oh hello yeah but uh she's like banging on doors and there's this like fake out

[01:11:26] cut with willow where willow is in her room and she's asleep at the computer and then she wakes up

[01:11:31] because she it makes it seem like she hears the banging on the doors but uh you know she it's

[01:11:37] actually not her but then we go back to buffy the fake out was interesting but didn't make any sense

[01:11:44] yeah hold on so we go back to buffy and buffy's beating up the minion dudes Riley goes into the

[01:11:48] clock tower gets attacked by the minion dudes um Tara is banging on the door uh that we had the willow

[01:11:55] fake out because one the one door that Tara is banging on that actually does open it's one of the

[01:12:02] gentlemen inside and he's got his scalpel and it's all bloody and he's like hey what the fuck though

[01:12:11] so then that dorm room was apparently like a couple doors down from willow storm so willow here's

[01:12:18] a bunch of commotion out in the hallway and she walks out and Tara just fucking blind sides willow

[01:12:25] and just tackles her i don't know why willow wouldn't stay at jow's house i would not stay in the dorm room

[01:12:33] the dorm room was murdered dude i wouldn't stay in this city i move well i think it's probably

[01:12:39] i would love to see the border of like people trying to leave town and then trying to stop

[01:12:44] because it's yeah so then willow sees the gentleman and then she just starts taking off with Tara

[01:12:54] so then we go back to the clock tower and Riley's getting his ass beat by the minion dudes

[01:13:01] buffy shows up and she starts beating up these minion dudes uh and Riley's kind of beating up the

[01:13:07] minion dudes and then they have like a face-to-face like holding weapons at each other because buffy's

[01:13:13] got her crossbow and Riley has his like tazer god god that gun is so lame yeah i hate it i don't

[01:13:22] know it's something it just reminded me of uh uh that other watcher who had that glove that power

[01:13:28] glove it's like i mean have we seen we've seen them use guns in this show

[01:13:37] darla had double pistols yeah so you could use guns they're using these weird taste

[01:13:43] this military that these weird tazer guns that run out of power well it's because they

[01:13:48] well i think the initiative like they don't they want to do experiments on the demons and shit

[01:13:53] but don't they know some team like they do but is it all capture yeah i don't know like if your

[01:14:00] life is on a line you'd want to like like some more firepower you know i feel like they have handguns

[01:14:05] on them i feel like it's no way his one gun goes down he doesn't have another piece

[01:14:11] yeah um but yeah so bat knife maybe so Riley and buffy they do a little face-to-face and they do

[01:14:26] in front of you though but then they're kind of like well we're both here let's start beating some

[01:14:32] minion ass um so they start to beat up the the little straight jacket guys yeah so giles and spike

[01:14:42] ananya and zander are all hanging out in there uh you know we're doing research and spike goes to

[01:14:51] the refrigerator and he gets his cup of blood with his mug and he drinks the blood he drinks cold too

[01:14:58] which i was about to thought he would low thought he would think that they would want it warm

[01:15:02] thought he wouldn't nuke it put it on the stove you know but boil yourself up a hot hot pot of blood

[01:15:09] but uh he's regular face and then he drinks the blood and he turns into a vampire face

[01:15:15] good effect very quick yeah so he goes over to the couch where ananya is sleeping

[01:15:22] and he's like goes on to the floor i don't know what happens why he's on the floor

[01:15:26] i think he's researching something or looking at some yeah books i don't know he just kind of bent

[01:15:32] over yeah so he's got a blood mustache like a no mustache yeah so um zander then appears and he sees

[01:15:44] ananya like passed out on the couch and then he sees spike lift his head up and he's full vampire face

[01:15:51] and zander misinterprets this as like he's fucking feeding on my girlfriend i'm going to go beat

[01:15:58] this guy's ass yeah and zander does that he does like he beats the shit out of spike for like a good

[01:16:08] couple of minutes yeah but he's decking him and spikes just taking it because he can't harm people

[01:16:15] i guess yeah you're just getting wailed on yeah i love it i will say that zander has always

[01:16:21] he would always come to the aid of his friends yes but he would also do that for like so many

[01:16:27] likes like on yeah yeah yeah so like he would have done if it was willow if it was um buffy

[01:16:33] buffy yeah he might have thought twice if it was jiles he might have hesitated but then he would have

[01:16:37] hesitated but then jumped in yeah but like yeah he he just jumps in the line of fire a lot of times

[01:16:44] and uh so he's just beaten well i mean i guess this is a really line of well if he thinks that spike

[01:16:49] is feeding on ananya i guess it is i mean he's attacking a vampire that he makes his full vampire

[01:17:00] that's true like i mean yeah and that do that scene in the hospital was fucking badass wasn't he

[01:17:10] like holy shit yeah um but so as zander's beaten the shit out spike ananya wakes up and she's like what's

[01:17:20] going on oh zander what what are you doing and he zander kind of looks at ananya and he's like oh

[01:17:25] you weren't getting fed i thought that spike was eating you and i think it's like no without too yeah

[01:17:31] yeah and they're like no no no that's not what happened you're this is a misinterpretation

[01:17:36] and zander's like oh shit but ananya takes this as like earlier in the episode when they were like

[01:17:41] you don't care about me she takes this as like zander will get into the line of fire for me

[01:17:46] and defend me if he and like also when zander realizes that ananya's okay he like grabs her

[01:17:52] and hugs her he starts kissing her yeah and ananya's like okay you've just proven that you really

[01:17:56] care about me and then she does the let's fuck finger motion and everybody just like sees it and rolls

[01:18:01] their eyes like he's like nods they hold hands in one out and it's just like this is like for

[01:18:07] jiles like the worst thing i think a libyus there too yeah yeah libyus there and she sees it on

[01:18:13] yeah i like that scene i just love it like that i just love the on you the finger in the whole thing

[01:18:22] yeah yeah i like that she like she talks about jiles is like is this a fornicating friend

[01:18:36] show just like ananya brings a nice like knowledge of demons of fun like disconnect to humanity

[01:18:45] yeah yeah so after that scene willow and tarot are still on the run they're running and then they

[01:18:52] eventually hide in some room and i think they're in the laundry room it looks like the exact

[01:19:00] laundry room where uh where if she only knew that uhs and veruka veruka i was like what is that

[01:19:09] i was gonna say sunday but it's like yeah uh yeah awesome veruka when they were

[01:19:14] and this was where os was like no i will not have sex with you on this dirty laundry mat floor

[01:19:20] yeah and it looked like veruka was like grabbing at his junk

[01:19:24] that's what it didn't say anything happens off screen that vaguely could be junk grabbing or

[01:19:30] junk mutilation it's that's what it is in my head when zander was just punch and spike in the balls

[01:19:38] do people talk a lot about head cannon for me anything that happened slightly off screen

[01:19:43] but i don't know why buffy hueshootin steaks and the people's crotch

[01:19:49] that's not where the heart is but uh so they locked themselves into this laundry room and you

[01:20:04] move this gigantic soda machine to the front of the door and they can't do it okay there's a couple

[01:20:12] things in the scene i didn't know that you could do witchcraft without uh reciting anything

[01:20:18] yeah um i guess she can move pencils without saying anything so i guess she did do that and she

[01:20:23] does mention that she wants to learn how to move stuff bigger than pencils earlier willows complaining

[01:20:28] about being not being that good of a witch and even later in this episode you have given angel back

[01:20:35] his soul you've helped save buffy from having her soul sucked out of her you gave yourself the power to

[01:20:43] anything that you speak becomes real like you have done so much why you you don't realize it but

[01:20:51] you did turn Amy the rat back into a human for a half a second i mean you were about to do a spell

[01:20:59] to make it so that odds would never find true love and thanks for floating like all those

[01:21:06] beakers of floating and you're like yeah i don't want to do it yeah you did a spell with

[01:21:11] ania that brought vampire vamp willow into the this reality you have crossed over multiverse

[01:22:28] group or like her uh witch group in high school with Amy and that goth dude they got beat up

[01:22:35] Michael i think it's like yeah like so in high school she was able to find three witches

[01:23:18] the hearts are being uh kept before the jars before that she's she grabs a rope and does a swing

[01:23:27] kick across the room that guy got fucking watch dude flew back like he got hit with a cannon

[01:23:36] but she is fighting and looks at this and he goes what the fuck is this girl's deal it was amazing

[01:23:46] yeah i forgot about that it was a great moment for riley but like okay she's not just like

[01:23:51] oh i can fight and i'm out here yeah yeah she's not like most girls not she's not like most

[01:23:57] girl she's special i don't know why maybe cuz she's hot and blonde yeah i got it can you been

[01:24:02] bringing it up every fucking time i talk to you i'm just trying to get some pussy right

[01:24:13] that's what's gonna yeah um so buffy discovers where the hearts are and the floating gentleman show back

[01:24:22] up and they're like oh we're here now and like shit's gonna arrive who are these two people

[01:24:28] riley gets his gun and he's zaps him and then they start fighting the straight jacket minions again

[01:24:36] and then at one point buffy gets stabbed in the back it looks like by one of the gentlemen yes um

[01:24:43] i don't know if you guys can hear this but there is a lot of honking of cars like on that corner

[01:24:47] outside i don't know if you can hear what i cast but um i i noticed this this the one of the

[01:24:53] gentlemen has the scalpel and he stabbed buffy and we don't see exactly where it is she just goes ah

[01:24:58] and i was like wait this leather jacket is not as strong as her red riding hood cape that was

[01:25:04] stabbed in uh and uh that Halloween episode yeah like that guy had a real knife

[01:25:10] yeah i mean yeah she got she got fucking stabbed yeah uh so then buffy's being choked out at this point

[01:25:19] she's like up in the rafters and she sees where the the hearts are and there's a box

[01:25:25] in the middle of the hearts and buffy sees it and she's like oh shit i remember that from my vision

[01:25:30] dream that i had way earlier in the episode that joe and vance forgot to mention uh uh yeah

[01:25:36] we forgot about that they forgot to mention that sorry we did bring up that there was like a girl

[01:25:41] singing the wrong thing but yes he had a box i yeah she gets these premonition visions which is

[01:25:47] real convenient for this layer so she sees Riley and Riley is kind of near where this box is and

[01:25:54] buffy's like banging on the thing and Riley looks up and she's like the box the box and Riley's like

[01:26:01] okay and he smashes like the wrong thing i forgot what he smashes some like beaker that's next to it

[01:26:06] and buffy looks at she's like you idiot it's a great moment because the look of saddest faction

[01:26:12] and he has his face when he does it it's like it's kind of like it's kind of like buffy in that

[01:26:18] Halloween episode when she breaks the the ritual symbol or whatever she punches the floor

[01:26:24] she gets up she's like how do you like me now and joe's like don't do that

[01:26:30] Riley kind of has the same vibe going on in this way he's like i did it right yeah buffy's like

[01:26:35] you dummy know the box and it's a Riley like oh okay and he breaks the box i don't know where

[01:26:42] the gentlemen are during any of this yeah it's like you'd like somebody would be protecting that

[01:26:48] well i mean i guess there's one in there but i don't think they ever push that one away

[01:26:52] it's like the henchmen right like i think it's always the henchmen are fighting and then

[01:26:57] the one guy stabbed buffy but then that's it like they never really physically interact with him

[01:27:02] i don't think that much yeah but yeah so Riley breaks the the actual box and it gives everybody their

[01:27:09] voices back and as soon as buffy gets her voice like sucked back into her face she just goes

[01:27:18] screams for so long and all of the gentlemen's heads just blow up and explode and it was so

[01:27:27] cool looking yes like it was it's just a great payoff to a silent episode for her to get a voice

[01:27:36] give this amazing yell yeah and for that to just destroy them all i loved everything about the

[01:27:42] gentlemen dude yes yeah there's not a lot of like the only my only like minor minor gripe is how

[01:27:52] they put the end of the world so quickly but you know it's a show you got to quickly get to some

[01:27:57] stuff the kiss i don't i don't think really gets like the kiss happening like after the scream

[01:28:04] would have been better maybe yeah yeah yeah but i don't know like it's just a weird it was a

[01:28:09] weird timing for the kiss it didn't seem like it built up to like the first kiss moment but um

[01:29:24] have this like look at each other and it's like uh this is the start of something

[01:30:59] but holy shit this shit is real and Giles is like yeah i mean i wasn't lying about all that stuff

[01:31:25] well then well it ends on a i forget exact wording of the line but he's like is it too scary for

[01:31:33] you and she's like i don't know and it's like one of those things where she's like debating like

[01:31:38] i really like Giles but this is some fucked up shit don't she like Giles or does she like

[01:31:46] fucking Giles yeah but also do you like fucking Giles enough to like

[01:31:51] dodge your life yeah she's like i'm going you could drop me to the airport right now

[01:31:58] yeah he's like they're demon over there too but then it seemed to like be more attracted to you

[01:32:04] Giles so that's that scene and our final scene is Riley going to Buffy's dorm and he shows up

[01:32:15] and Buffy's like hey and Ryan's like hey so i guess we need to have a talk and Buffy's like

[01:32:27] i guess so and that is where the episode ends i hated the last scene yeah i mean it's so melodramatic

[01:32:36] yeah i mean everything with like where they try to give Riley a cool line he just botches it i feel

[01:32:41] well one Buffy looked really strange like standing like she looks extra short like standing

[01:32:47] in my bed and those like sneaker like those uh and then he sits on Willow's bed because Willow's you know

[01:32:54] flirting downstairs with witchcraft which girls with their soul witch um and uh yeah it's just like

[01:33:03] i know next episode they're probably like i hope it doesn't start with like a really oh my god

[01:33:08] i'm the slayer i worked for the nish like they can they can exchange this information like a more fun

[01:33:14] way you know what i mean like it doesn't happen they just fought you mean to tell me you guys fought

[01:33:19] together killed these demons and then you waited till the next day like you walked you went

[01:33:24] just separate ways after that right like you would be like hey i think we should probably talk

[01:33:30] yeah after that like you get a coffee you go go to some food now what i'm wondering is so obviously

[01:33:39] they're gonna tell each other like secrets like you want to finally gonna tell his thing exactly i

[01:33:44] i'm wondering well number one i'm wondering if uh if they do share everything with each other

[01:33:51] they're like Riley's like hey i'm part of this initiative Buffy's like hey i'm a vampire slayer

[01:33:56] i wonder if Riley will keep it a secret from the initiative

[01:34:00] oh that's gonna tell oh no but like why you know because he knows that then a new villain will

[01:34:07] be her teacher and the teacher will look at Buffy differently yeah yes because uh

[01:34:13] these shows all like hinge on secrets i just don't know why they could be such assets to each other

[01:34:19] you know like the initiative at least has some kind of intel about some kind of like their experiments

[01:34:25] but when they find out they find out but when they find out she's been harboring spike they'll

[01:34:29] be like we can't trust her you're right there's just there's just all this stuff that's it's

[01:34:35] well set up honestly like yeah i've been watching some other shows that i'm not enjoying

[01:34:40] i won't even go into them fully yet but you know this these are well crafted seasons at least

[01:34:47] like yeah they have a lot they've won mostly seasons have too many episodes like if you cut out some

[01:34:52] of them you leave a little fluff away and some of the random ones are really great but they do tell

[01:34:59] stories like the arc of all the seasons are still like tracking yeah like nothing is fully fallen

[01:35:06] off the wayside yeah i mean overall i really loved this episode i thought it was great

[01:35:14] again i can't speak enough about how awesome the gentlemen are yeah and like how terrifying they

[01:35:19] were and how terrifying their powers were like so good yeah have anything else uh left to say

[01:35:25] about this episode here bands um no it's gonna be interesting i it's interesting to see uh spike

[01:35:30] around Olivia if she sticks around a little bit she's uh oh man i can't i don't know if josty

[01:35:36] handle losing another i feel like the next time Olivia is mentioned it's gonna be like josty

[01:35:42] like no she couldn't handle it and that like i feel like this is the last we're gonna see of her

[01:35:47] you know um but vance the next episode is titled doomed um man that is that's the hard one to

[01:35:58] guess yeah anything uh sure jiles's doomed relationship with Olivia uh i was gonna say

[01:36:05] Riley and buffy's doomed relationship i guess we do have i guess that really is the

[01:36:10] main thing the next episode has to deal with yeah i mean they have to i want to know like what

[01:36:16] they divulge it to each other like i feel like they'll say a little bit maybe or like somebody will

[01:36:22] hold something back i would love it they're in a library and he's like okay i'm detailing the

[01:36:27] whole organization here's the structure he has a powerful story and then she's like um well i'm

[01:36:34] a slayer and i guess i was just born this way yeah he's like what you're so strong it'd be interesting

[01:36:42] if the initiative doesn't even know about slayers yeah that would be interesting because i feel like

[01:36:48] everything's in books uh you know what they they they'd be totally stupid not to because spike was

[01:36:54] talking to another vampire about like uh i was chasing the slayer like do they not have like

[01:37:00] those rooms bugged did you know what you know what the the biggest thing that like military does when

[01:37:06] they kidnap people was interrogate them yep do they not interrogate or do you just experiment

[01:37:12] uh i don't know i guess they think of vampires as subhuman so like why even interrogate them

[01:37:18] yeah but that's what the military thinks about people from foreign countries sometimes true

[01:37:24] they still ask some questions but uh yeah so that is it for this episode everybody thanks for
